PART ONE "The Gritty Contest" Alot has been going on this summer that has delayed the onslaught of the "Gritty McDuff" contest... but to re-cap... we were (and still are) looking for photos of completed Gritty McDuff" kit, if you recall "Gritty's" was last years limited edition kit, this year it's Raglan Road... more about that later on. To encourage modelers to build (and not just collect kits) we felt that offering our "next" limited kit as a "prize" for the most popular version of "Gritty's" would be a nice gesture, let guys share their works, and promote the actual building of what would otherwise be "collectible" kits ! This is actually part one of the contest, additional models will be published this coming Tuesday (a week from today) with more entries... those of you who haven't sent in photos... do it NOW... those of you who have and don;t see them in this issure just double check with us, you're probably alreeady slated for the next edition of the "Moose"... but it's better to be safe, give us an e-mail or a call. STARTING AFTER the next "Moose" we'll be listing a special e-mail adress so all of you can vote for your favorite version of "Gritty's", just refer to the modelers name (they accompany each photo) when you vote... the winner will get... ![]() THIS YEARS KIT.. (Raglan Road).... but everyone published will wine a prize for their efforts... ONE POUND of Bar Mills white metal castings.... and that's something we could all use ! SO HOLD ONTO THIS EDITION OF THE MOOSE, YOU'RE GONNA WANT TO COMPARE THE PHOTOS IN BOTH EDITIONS TO CHOOSE YOUR FAVORITE MODEL ! REMEMBER, THE NEXT EDITION WILL BE PUBLISHED ON NEXT TUESDAY, AUGUST 29TH... so any of you who still want to submit photos still have time ! ON A PERSONAL NOTE: Some of you may have noticed that over the summer our deliveries/service at times hasn't been as prompt as usual, we apologize for this and wish to spend a moment to explain. Over the past 6 years I've put in countless hours to help make Bar Mills Scale Model what it is today, with the help & support of many of you, as well as the indispensible support of the staff here and good friend Jim Mooney we've been able to accomplish what many of us could never dream of, enjoying our hobby while establishing many new standards & goals for ourselves as well as many of our fellow modelers. This summer I've been laying back figuring it was time to take a well deserved break, working, just not as hard. Recently I've found that I have a heart condition that needs attention, on Fri. Sept. 1st I'll be going in for heart surgery here in Portland, Maine. Jim Mooney has agreed to spearhead the balance of work that has to be done on the upcoming "Raglan Road" kit to insure that it will go out, a little later than we had planned, but hopefully no later than Dec. 1st. This coming weekend I'll be driving to Pa. to visit with Jim & his family to firm up any plans that need attention to make sure of a smooth transition while I'm recuperating. In the (unlikely) event that something should go awry during my procedure I just want to take a moment to thank you all for your support. Art Fahie, BMSM
