"The first Photos of the NEW'RAGLAN ROAD"
Limited-Edition
Kit !...

We just rolled in from Philadelphia at 3:30 AM this morning... bleary eyed & exhausted we were woken from the incessant ringing of our shop phone at 7:30 AM... after enjoying a whole 4 hours of restful sleep ! (Hmmm)...
At any rate it seems that some of our visitors at the NMRA National Convention snapped some photos of the upcoming "Raglan Road" kit... we figured that although we've already been beaten to the "punch" (thanks guys... really !) that we'd get the "Moose" out to you so you can get a more intimate view of what we'll be shipping this Halloween ! (we hope !)

About The Kit...
There's A LOT to tell about this kit, from it's unusal corner sturcture (prototype from the movie "The Sting"), to the etched brass pennants & laundry.  This kit is actually 4, well, more like 4 1/2 structures.  (True, one of them has been reduced to a pile of rubble & seen better days).  Featuring clapboard, cardstock , brass, plastic, sheetwood & stripwood construction this kit gave us a chance to play a game... the idea was to come up with so many variations on building techniques that the kit would never get boring... the trick was to integrate these methods so they weren't only fun... but they looked great together as well.

Featuring plastic windows (some of which are custom made for this kit) and an assortment of unusual architectural details this kit is most definitely "off-center" conceptually... but we wouldn't have it any other way!
We can't get into all the details here,  but we can tell you that our overall diorama base measured 17" x 18", consists of the "Pfferkorn Furniture Company". "Klinger's Corner Pharmacy", Harry's Hubcap Heaven", and lastly "Skinner's Salvage" named after fellow modeler Doug Skinner from Canada, a top rate guy who passed away on us while awaiting his "Gritty McDuff" kit last  year.  We made him a promise to name a building on this years kit after him if he'd stick around awhile longer, but his battle with cancer proved too much... so we're dedicating this kit to him.  Although we never met the guy we can't help but feel that in losing another modeler we've lost a little of our family...so Doug, here's to you !

The "Gritt'ys Contest...
Sorry, we've been swamped with work... but we haven't forgotten about you guys... we'll get onto it once we get back on track !

THE FACTS
"Raglan" will be limited to 500 kits, although we'll make provision for an additional 50 if the need arises.
The kit will be $250 + shipping & be delivered ONLY by UPS.
The purchasing limit on this kit will be 3 to any one given modeler... please do not ask for more !
We will be accepting & processing credit cards at the time of the order... last year the processing of almost 400 credit cards at the time of shipping held-up kit shipment almost 2 additional weeks... we're shooting for an earlier release dat this year... please help us with this.
We will hold any credit cards for processing on a later date if requested, but those orders will be handled last.
Those of you who purchased "Gritty's" will get the first crack at these kit, just don't wait too long to handle them or even you will be left out of the running !

As for the value & quality of the kit?... you guys will have to ask around & find that information in some of the great internet forums.

Give us a call starting this Wed.... have your c.c. ready and we'll make sure you get a kit... we know alot of you didn't get in on time last year & hope this "heads-up" does some good this time around !

This kit was conceived & designed by Jim Mooney & myself... all of us at Bar Mills thank each of you for your ongoing support.

Art Fahie, BMSM

Some Diorama Photos...
(They're Quick & Dirty But Should Give You An Idea Of What's UP!)

Front View... No vehicles or figures are included... this shouldn't be a suprise to anybody !

From the right "Harry's Hubcap Heaven" is easily seen along with a terrific "Beech-Nut" graphic we've included with the kit for placment on the side wall of "Skinner's" !  See those "pennents" ?... one piece etched brass.... hey, if it wasn't  creative, it wouldn't be a Bar Mills kit !

The store front of this building was designed after the drug store in the movie the "Sting"... if you have the DVD you may recognize it.  The unusual "square-wave" shingles take an entire hour for our laser to cut... in other words, just the shingles for the strucutre will eat up 500 hours of laser time for the run of this kit.... that's a lot of time ! (But we think it's worth it)

This vacant lot, complete with a hydrocal brick wall a a footing made of piles of cinder blocks (again a hydrocal casting) is all that's left of what used to stand here...  now it's just a place that junk finds its' way to !
